Pray in Jesus Name
If ye abide in Me, and My words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you. (John 15:7)
God has given unlimited authority in prayer to the His children. It is an open invitation that His children may come to Him day or night, at any time, and have an audience with the Father. When God puts Himself at our disposal in prayer, it is for His cause and His kingdom agenda, that we may serve His purpose and do His business. Our loving heavenly Father knows His children have needs and He cares for them and desires to bless them that His children may glorify His Son, Jesus Christ. The authority in prayer is to seek God’s provisions, God’s protection, and God’s power to do His will. Jesus said, “If ye shall ask any thing in My name, and I will do it” (Jn 14:14). To ask anything in Jesus’ name means to ask concerning the affairs of Jesus, not ours. The affairs of Jesus were to attend to the affairs of the Father and do His will. Jesus always prayed to His Father for the welfare of His work on earth. Today, that is the privilege and responsibility of the church. We are to use His position with the Father to carry on the work He left for us to do. The privilege in prayer means Christ is preeminent to us and His work is our first concern. “If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you” the child of God will find themself totally consumed with Christ and totally equipped for the work of ministry (Eph 4:12). The prophet Elijah was used mightily of God. He prayed earnestly for God to withhold the rain from the land and God answered his prayer. The land was dry for three and a half years. He prayed again and the heavens released the rain. My friend, our Father awaits to hear the prayers of His children that He may be glorified in answering their prayers that “the effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much” (James 5:16). Father, thank You for the privilege to come to You in prayer, that whatever is asked in Jesus’ name and “it shall be done.” Guide my thoughts in Your word and transform my mind that the desire of my heart will be pleasing unto You. In the blessed Name of Jesus. Amen.
