Family Focused
Pembroke First Baptist’s mission is to minister to the whole family.
Good morning; I pray you had great worship at your local church, gathering with your brothers and sisters in Christ on this past Lord’s Day! “And Moses said unto the Lord, O my Lord, I am not eloquent, neither heretofore, nor since thou hast spoken unto the servant: but I am slow of speech and of a slow tongue”. (Exodus 4:10). I am reminded of how many times we limit God based upon what we can do and not based upon His calling on our lives and what He can do through us. God was calling Moses in this passage to deliver the children of Israel, but Moses wanted to tell God what he could not do and how he was limited with his speech. I love how God responded to Moses, “And the Lord said unto him, Who hath made man’s mouth? or who maketh the dumb, or deaf, or the seeing, or the blind? have not I the Lord? (v.11) My friend, God already knows our limitations before we were created, and God is not calling us into a great work based upon what we can do but based upon what He can do through us. All God needs is your heart and your effort, and He will work THROUGH us to accomplish His will on this earth. Have you surrendered your heart and will to God this morning? If not, I pray you will and watch how God can use you to do great and mighty things in Kingdom Work! “For ye see your calling, brethren, how that not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called” (1 Cor.1:26). Whatever you need to fulfill and accomplish the work of Christ, He will bless you with it so He will receive the glory. Father, I pray if our obedience to your calling is based upon our talents and gifts in the flesh, I pray for your forgiveness. Help us to totally rely on the Power of the Holy Spirit of God. Be Blessed in Jesus’ Name!
Good morning; sometimes, in the struggles of life, we forget to stop and listen to the voice of God. “And after the earthquake, a fire but the Lord was not in the fire: and after the fire a still small voice” (1 Kings 19:12). Elijah, the prophet of God, found himself in an emotional and mental state of depression, and he needed encouragement; he needed his spirit encouraged. Elijah was a man of God who allowed his emotions to get the best of him in the wilderness on the run from Jezebel, and he found himself in a cave of self-pity. Elijah was listening to the voice of Jezebel instead of the voice of God. He was hearing what Jezebel said she was going to do instead of listening for the voice of God what God had already done. “And it was so, when Elijah heard it, that he wrapped his face in his mantle, and went out, and stood in the entering in of the cave. And, behold, there came a voice unto him, and said, What doest thou here, Elijah? Take time this morning to stop and listen to the voice of God. God is often not in the run, shout, or jump; God is speaking into your spirit with a still small voice, and the place of solitude (cave) my be where God has us so we will stop long enough to hear Him ask us “What doest thou here, ____________.” Place your name in the line and see what God is asking. Father, I pray this morning for those who are in an emotional cave this morning, that they would hear the voice of God and be encouraged to press forward. I pray you would find yourself a local body of believers and join them in worship on this Lord’s Day. Be Blessed in Jesus Name!
