Family Focused
Pembroke First Baptist’s mission is to minister to the whole family.
And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free” (John 8:32).
This morning with all that is going on in the world and within our personal lives. I want to encourage our hearts to know the truth. My friend, to know the truth is to know Jesus Christ, “If the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed”. I encourage us to seek out the truth of God’s Holy Word and allow the Spirit of God to lead us in all spiritual understanding. If we are walking with God and are not walking in the truth, God’s Holy Spirit will convict us, and I thank God for the spirit’s conviction this morning. Father, I pray this morning that we as your children will continue to seek out the Truth through Your Son Jesus Christ. And Lord, I pray for our readers this morning that You would press upon our hearts the inspired Word of God. Be Blessed in Jesus’ Name!
When Jesus had lifted up himself and saw none but the woman, he said unto her, Woman, where are those thine accusers? hath no man condemned thee? (John 8:10).
A group of religious men had brought a woman to Jesus who had been taken in adultery. Their goal was to condemn her and to openly shame her, but my friend, often the greatest accusers are the biggest sinners. The only one standing in that group without sin was Jesus. Jesus had told those men, “He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her” (v7). Rightfully, according to the Mosaic law, the woman caught in the act of adultery was to be stoned. But as Jesus stooped down and began to write their sins in the dirt, their eyes were open to their own failures. Then her accusers begin to leave, and there was none to condemn her, and Jesus said, “Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more” (v.11). My friend, Jesus is not looking to condemn us; He seeks to forgive us of our sin. I want to remind us this morning that Jesus died for our sin, and He desires to forgive us. “Jesus is quick to forgive, but we are also accountable to stop sinning.” Father, I want to thank you for the forgiveness of sin this morning, and we want to thank you for The Spirit of God that leads us away from sin. I pray this morning that we would seek your forgiveness and then “go and sin no more.” Be Blessed in Jesus’ Name!
“For there stood by me this night the angel of God, whose I am, and whom I serve” (Acts 27:23).
The apostle Paul had a divine appointment in Rome to be a witness of the Lord Jesus Christ. However, his trip to his divine appointment came through a storm where he was shipwrecked as a prisoner. But I love the opportunity Paul took during this time to be a witness of the Lord Jesus. Paul declared that he belonged to God and that the “angel of God “stood by him. My friend, who do you belong to this morning? If you belong to God, you have an angel standing by you as well! Jesus said that He would ” never leave you nor forsake you”. But, Paul did not stop by stating his position in God, he stated the reason he was on that boat, “whom I serve.” The reason he was a prisoner is that he preached Jesus, the reason he was on his way to Rome because God had declared it two years earlier, that Paul would preach in Rome. If you are divinely born into the family of God you have a divine appointment to be a servant of God. You may face the storm, you may feel shipwrecked, but we must feel as Paul did, “Where for sirs, be of good cheer: for I believe God, that it shall be even as it was told me” (v.25). Father in the middle of the storm, help us to trust Your Word. I pray this morning that our readers would find the confidence they need to face this day in their position in the Family of God, and through Your God breathed Word. Be Blessed in Jesus’ Name!
