Continue in His Love
He saith to him again the second time, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou Me? He saith unto him, Yea, Lord; Thou knowest that I love Thee. John 21:16
I pray that you were wonderfully blessed as you gathered with your local church in worship on the Lord’s Day. Be strengthen and encouraged in your walk of faith throughout the week ahead. There are many who become frustrated and discouraged by life’s setbacks and failures in the journey of life. I believe most people have good intentions and ambition to do well, even in Christian life. There are many believers who want to live a more devoted life but struggle to get back up and continue after moments of falling, failing, and fumbling with temptations and pleasures in life. When temptations come, and they come to all, not all resist and overcome. These tempting moments can leave us in despair and doubt about our devotion to Christ. The scripture passage reminds us of the persistent love that God has for each of His children. Following Peter’s denial of Jesus on the night before His crucifixion, Peter ran and hid himself. Peter struggled with his failure, and his faith and confidence were under attack. Jesus told Peter that he would deny Him three times, but He also told him that He had prayed for him that his faith would not fail. My friend, in those moments when we have fallen to temptation, it is then that we can hear the words of Jesus say “lovest thou Me?” Know that Jesus has prayed for you that you will continue in faith to believe and follow Him. Jesus is most concerned about your faith, not your failure. He wants to grow and mature your faith in Him that you can face and escape life’s temptations (1 Cor 10:13) to live life “more abundantly” (Jn 10:10), filled with joy, and walk faithfully with Him (Acts 13:52). Dear friend, Jesus will never leave you to squander in your self-pity, remain broken from your fall, or desperate in your despair. He will come to you to pickup the broken pieces and restore you to Himself. He will continue the good work that He began in you until He returns to bring you home to be with Him (Phil 1:6). Father, thank You for your persistent love and for Your word that reminds me that I am not forsaken, but always forgiven. Thank You for Your faithfulness. You are my Rock and Redeemer, and “Thou knowest that I love Thee.” My friend, continue in His love. In the blessed Name of Jesus. Amen.

Bound With God’s Love
In all these things we are more than conquerors through Him that loved us. Rom 8:37
Many things come and go throughout our lives. Things wear out, run out, out-grow, fade away and fail over time. Very few things last the test of time. We live in a replacement culture where the idea that new is better, where things aren’t meant to last, and when they fail, replace it for a newer model with improved options. This cultural belief impacts the view American society has toward relationships and the way they are managed and maintained. There is the idea that if something doesn’t make you happy or if it’s a problem, get rid of it, replace it. This idea has somehow crept into some Christian beliefs. There is a thought that “when things go wrong in my life, God must be displeased with me. Therefore, I feel rejected.” Can this be? The scripture passage is a response to the question “Who shall separate us from the love of Christ?” (Rom 8:35). The Apostle interrogated the question and carefully tested the extremities of all conditions that impacted life, living, and the love of God. He interrogated the existence of things in “death and life,” any created intelligences “Angels, principalities, and powers,” the extremes of time “things present, things to come,” things of space “height and depth” finally, anything in the created universe, “any other creature.” His comprehensive, exhaustive interrogation concluded “Nay.” Nothing “shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord” (Rom 8:39). Dear friend, God loves you with His eternal love. We should not misjudge and mistrust the Love of God our Father, and think that our distresses and sufferings, our sins and failures, may make Him love us less. In fact, we can know that death and pain, disease and sorrow, sin and failure, “in all these things” bind us closer to the love of God. “We are more than conquerors through Him that loved us.” It is the love of God from the heart of Jesus that “never fails” (1 Cor 13:8) and loves for all eternity. Father thank You for Your undivided, inseparable, all sufficient love. I praise You and adore You in the blessed Name of Jesus. Amen.

Directed Into His Love
And the Lord direct your hearts into the love of God, and into the patient waiting for Christ. 2 Thess 3:5
We all want to be encouraged. Encouragement is needed when we feel we are at the end of our rope, or our backs are up against the wall. There are times in everyone’s life when we feel helpless and like we just want to give up. It is in times like these that we most need encouragement. Encouragement is what lifts our hearts and strengthens one’s belief to not give up but preserve and press on. The scripture passage is a prayer of encouragement. The Apostle loved the local church and fervently prayed for them. He understood the troubles, trials, and difficulties they faced due to their faith and work to spread the gospel. He understood that in troubled times, when opposition is greatest, and the enemy is in full assault, that believers’ hearts are most vulnerable and begin to faint. It is in these times that believers fade into selfishness and fall into despair. These are the times when the child of God needs “the Lord direct your hearts into the love of God.” These are the times when we most need strength and encouragement in the love of God to remind us that we are forgiven and not forsaken. God knows His children need of grace-filled reminders, and we are called to encourage our brethren until the return of Jesus Christ (Heb. 3:13). And finally, dearly beloved, the source of our strength to gain and give encouragement is in the word of God. The word of God encourages the believer “into the patient waiting for Christ” and the Holy Spirit empowers us to lift one another toward the Lord in brotherly love (Col 4:8). My friend, be encouraged in the salvation of the Lord and in His love. For in God’s love, we are secured and strengthened. And in His word, we grow in Christ’s patience that encourages us and enables us to face our daily trials and troubles, problems, and difficulties, to live victoriously until His soon return that “in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us” (Rom 8:37). Father thank You for Your love and the strength of Your word. By Your grace, direct my heart and strengthen my faith that I may be an encourager to my brethren. In the blessed Name of Jesus. Amen.

Declare His Glory
The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork. Ps 19:2
When was the last time that you stood speechless in the presence of some awesome greatness? A moment when you were breathless and without words. For some, it may have been at the birth of their child. In the moment they held their first born. It may have been in the moment when at first you beheld your beloved that your heart was captivated with desire. It may have been a moment of despair when life’s preciousness became a reality. Amidst the busyness, constant going, striving in everyday life, very little time is given to stand and be in the moment. The scripture passage reminds us that God’s presence surrounds us. The awesome greatness of God is declared in all His creation and can be beheld day and night. The psalmist may have stood in the midst of the day or laid in mist of the night to consider all that was about him and confessed with all solemness and humility that “the heavens declare the glory of God.” The light of the sun gives life to the seed earth. The warmth of its rays sweetens fruit of the vine and branches. It is God who clothes the lilies of the field, feeds the birds of air (Mt 6:26-30), waters the earth from heaven and flows the seasons with His goodness (Acts 14:17). These things testify of the greatness of God and His goodness to all His creation. It is in the moments that we pause our anxious hearts from the toils, troubles, trials, and even the triumphs of life, that He is able to speak His peace and rest to our hearts that we may behold His glory. My friend, like the psalmist, let us cease from our striving, searching, and seeking life’s pleasures and see the “handywork” of God that declare His glory. His greatest works are the Living Word and His written word. The Living Word is Jesus Christ and His finished work He did on Calvary to give life eternal to all who believed on Him. And for all who believe, He has given the written word, “that we through the patience and comfort of the Scriptures might have hope” (Rom 15:4). As we receive the Living Word and the hope of the scriptures abide within us, and abounds through us, we too can “declare the glory of God.” Dear friend, give pause from the hectic pace of life on earth to consider all that is contained on earth and above in the heavens that “declare the glory of God.” Our Father loves us and declares His love for us by all His works in glory. Thank God for Your awesome greatness and eternal love through Your Son Jest Christ our Savior. In the blessed Name of Jesus. Amen.
