Magnify the Lord
Oh, magnify the Lord with me and let us exalt His Name together.” Psalm 34:3
How big is God? How big do others see God in your life? God is bigger that all creation. He is present everywhere and nowhere absent. So why is God not seen? God must be revealed. One of the greatest reveals of God is the child of God. The child of God makes God known to the world, much like a magnifying glass or a telescope. Magnify means to make something appear larger in size. It also means to extol or glorify. A magnifying glass increases the appearance of an object to enhance its details so that it is better seen and understood. The magnifying glass does not change the image but makes it clearer, the invisible details visible, and the unseen is seen. The scripture passage encourages us to “magnify the Lord.” Magnify God to reveal His invisible attributes and unseen character. We magnify Him with thanksgiving, through praise and testimony, and our worship. The psalmist David said, “I will magnify God with thanksgiving” (Ps 69:30) and his open expression of thanksgiving revealed God those around him, that others might see the goodness of God and know His presence. He didn’t make a small God look bigger but revealed an enormous God as big as He actually is. My friend, how big is your God? Let the bigness and greatness of God be known through your thanksgiving, praise, testimony, and worship. There is nothing and no one superior to God. As the psalmist magnified the Lord, he called on others to “magnify the Lord with me and let us exalt His name together.” He desired for the world to know the God he served and that “His Name” be exalted and known to all the world. Dear friend, will you magnify the Lord with me today? Let us join as beacons of light and hope, that the light and love of our God will brightly shine through the darkness, to magnified and exalt His Name together. Jesus says, “If I be lifted up,” which is to say, if He is magnified and exalted, if He is revealed to the world, then He says, “will draw all men unto Myself” (Jn 12:32). As body of Christ may come together in worship, let us lift up the Name of Jesus, “magnify the Lord…and let us exalt His Name together.” I thank God for my local church and every occasion we gather to “exalt His Name together.” Father thank You for Your love and Your goodness. Let the praise, thanksgiving, and worship of all Your people be heard in all lands throughout the world and the Name of Jesus be exalted and magnified. In the blessed Name of Jesus. Amen.
