Light of Life
“Ye are the light of the world…Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.” Matt 5:14-16
Have you ever looked up into the sky to see the sun shining brightly and say to yourself “It’s a good day? I will rejoice and be glad in it.” The sun is the natural light to the earth and without the sun, no life on earth can exist. Light represents life. Light means life for natural things and life for the spirit of man. The scripture passage reminds us that the children of God “are the light of the world.” The Church is the light of the world, and we are lamps placed within the Church. A lamp is filled with oil to receive light that the house may be filled with light. The natural man is an empty lamp pot. He lays broken in complete darkness and does not have life. It is only when “the light of life” (Jn 8:12) shines into the darkness and warms the cold, dark, hardened clay in the hearts of men that life can begin and they are “made whole” (Mt 15:31). Jesus proclaimed, “I am the light of the world: he that followeth Me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.” (John 8:12). My friend, your walk of faith is “the light of life.” Knowledge and obedience to the word of God is “the light of the world.” Friend, “let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify our Father which is in heaven.” Father, You are glorified in Your Son and today, be glorified in His child. In the blessed Name of Jesus. Amen.
