Joy in His Presence
Good morning; I pray that you have a blessed week! At times, David was a man of impulse and did not always do things according to God’s standards. “It is possible to have “zeal without knowledge” and do a good work in a wrong way.”, Such as David’s desire to bring the ark of the Lord to the city of David to a tent he had prepared. However, David wanted to return the ark of the Lord for all the wrong reasons. My friend, we must make sure our hearts and motives are pure in the work we are doing for God. “And it was told king David, saying, The Lord hath blessed the house of Obededom, and all that pertaineth unto him, because of the ark of God. So David went and brought up the ark of God from the house of Obededom into the city of David with gladness” (2 Samuel 2:12). Fear first came upon David when he wanted to bring the ark of the Lord into the city of David, so he left the ark which represented the presence of the Lord before the Temple was built to the children of Israel. And, we should have fear/reverence in the presence of God, which will lead the people of God to repentance. Many folks in the society we live in have lost the fear of the Lord, but my friend, there is coming a day (judgment day) that He will gain it all back. But, David was a man who feared the Lord and respected The Lord’s presence. David heard how God was blessing the house of Obededom because of the ark of the Lord he left there, and not only him but “all his house.”. The children of God are always blessed when we are in God’s presence. The greatest blessing in life is to feel the presence of God. David repented of his wrongdoings, David sought the Lord concerning the Ark of The Lord’s return to Jerusalem. I love the reaction of the king in the presence of God, as they marched that Ark down the street, “And David danced before the Lord with all his might, and David was girded with a linen ephod” (v. 14). Christian friend, how much do you enjoy the presence of God? Do we exhaust all our energy in the worship of God? Does the presence of God bring joy to our hearts that would make us act out of character? David was the king of Israel, dancing in the streets before his people with only an “ephod.” My Christian brothers and sisters, we do not have to wait until heaven to enjoy the presence of God. I pray you have a place of worship; I pray you go to your house of worship seeking to enjoy the presence of God. Father, thank you this morning for your presence that will stir the Holy Spirit inside every Christian to worship you in “Spirit and Truth .” Be Blessed in Jesus’ Name!
