Draw Near to God

“Until I went into the sanctuary of God; then understood I their end” (Psalm 73:17).

The Psalmist in this passage had fallen into the trap many of us have found ourselves from time-to-time. He had taken his eyes of the Lord and placed them on the prosperity of man; he had watched the wicked prosper, and he thought of how could that be, knowing they didn’t serve God. However, once the psalmist got back into the presence of God, into the place of worship (The sanctuary of God), he realized that all man had was temporary, and they would one-day face judgment. The psalmist realized how precious the presence of God is to the child of God. “Thou shalt guide me with thy counsel, and afterward receive me to glory” (v.24). satan will try to discourage us, he will try to make us envious of other folks, he will try to take our attention off the things of God and place them on other people. Therefore, as the children of God, we must stay in constant worship with the Lord; we must remain in regular fellowship with other believers and be reminded of our promises in God. “But it is good for me to draw near to God: I have put my trust in the Lord God, that I may declare all thy works” (v. 28). Father this morning we thank you for the Holy Spirit of God, who reminds us of our fellowship with you, who convicts us when our flesh fails, and brings us back into your presence and reminds us of the (Glory) we will receive one day. Lord, I pray for our readers this morning to feel the Holy Spirit’s touch to remind them of your promises. I pray they would enjoy your presence on this day. Be blessed in Jesus’ Name!
