A Stirred Spirit

Good morning; I pray you had a great time with the Lord during your time of worship on this past Lord’s Day! I love the event recorded in the book of Acts of the Apostles Paul’s experience in Athens. “Now while Paul waited for them at Athens, his spirit was stirred in him, when he saw the city wholly given to idolatry” (Acts 17:16). My Christian friend, any time we as believers in the Lord Jesus Christ are confronted with situations that challenge the person of Jesus, it should stir the Spirit of God within us. And we should look for opportunities to witness, preach, and teach people of the person of Jesus Christ. “For as I passed by, and behold your devotions, I found an altar with this inscription, TO THE UNKNOWN GOD. Whom; therefore, ye ignorantly worship, him declare I unto you” (v.23). Paul searched out opportunities to tell people about Jesus. Paul did not attack these folks; he just wanted to educate them concerning their worship of the “Unknown God.” This week, I want to encourage us to look for an opportunity to tell someone about Jesus and tell them about His death, burial, and resurrection. Tell them that Jesus died for their sins; without Him, no one can be saved. Paul took his opportunity and preached Jesus, “And when they heard of the resurrection of the dead, some mocked: and others said, we will hear thee again of this matter” (v.32). You may not win them all, but you can plant a seed, someone else can water, and God will give the increase! Gracious Lord, I pray this week you would place someone in our path that needs to hear about Jesus. And Lord, give us the courage to witness to them concerning eternal life through Jesus Christ. Be Blessed in Jesus’ Name!
