God Is Merciful
Gracious is the LORD, and righteous; yea, our God is merciful. Ps 116:5
As you awake today, God has new mercies in store that you have never known before. God’s mercy is new every morning (Lam 3:23) and He reveals His mercy to us in ways that we haven’t ever experienced before. As you begin each day what will you choose? Choose to embrace God’s mercy and walk in His grace and goodness for today? Or continue to dwell on yesterday’s sin and struggles to walk in misery and the misleading of unsettled accounts, unfulfilled desires, and unrest from aspiring for greater gain. The scripture passage reminds us that “God is merciful.” God’s merciful compassion is infinite and inexhaustible. God demonstrated His mercifulness by sending His Son Jesus to take the judgment that was rightfully ours. He now patiently and lovingly waits as the gospel goes out to all people to turn to Jesus for salvation and to live under His justification (2 Pet 3:9). Each day, as He directs the paths of His children to “increase and abound in love” (1 Thes 3:11-12) that His love and the Good News the gospel may reach to the uttermost parts of the world. Every day, God awaits to hear the prayers of His children to fill our hearts with His peace and rest that “God is able to make all grace abound toward you” that we may walk in His presence to “abound in every good work.” My friend, God has plans for your good and His glory. “God is merciful” and is able cause all things to “work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to His purpose” (Rom 8:28). Though we may falter and fail, we can rejoice and be glad that His new mercies await us for today. Our Lord is patiently waiting and is merciful. Dear friend, awake and start fresh. Start fresh in the new mercy that God has available to us today. He has given us a clean slate. What will you do with it? Father thank You for Your love and Your merciful kindness. Help me to start fresh and anew that Your will be done in my life and that Your love will abound to others. In the blessed Name of Jesus. Amen.
